Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin, DJ’s, Mister Saturday Night.
These gentlemen throw the loveliest party in Brooklyn. If you haven’t been, I suggest you get on it.
I’ve been snapping my way through their dance floors for a while now. But given our positions - my shooting and their incessant spinning of some of the best vinyl I’ve ever seen til sunrise - we’re busy when in each others company. So the chance to actually get to know the lads was special. Shot in Ft. Greene Park a few Sundays ago. Justin likes to cook.

Dirty scan. Brooklyn lovers.
It was Kim and Lucie’s last night in Brooklyn. Tomorrow they were to return to Paris. I wanted a photoshoot before they left. Something very formal. So I sat them down in their S. 4th abode. When I showed up they were doing final touch ups on the apartment before moving out: mopping, wiping the stove down, packing their suitcases, returning the plastic jesus statue lamp to its original spot in the living room; the place came pre-furnished.
It was tuesday evening. I headed over straight from work with little time to plan. They were looking great as they tend to do, but something was missing.
The mirror was in place. I liked that placement, but early on I shot to avoid my reflection. As we went, something wasn’t clicking. By the time we got to what you see here, things picked up.
It’s a reflection of Kim’s personality. Those who know Kim know someone’s clothes always come off around him. The shots only got worse.
This here taken early in the night; PG13. R Negatives to come.
Test shot. Fuji FP100C, shitty Polaroid scan. Mamiya RZ67.

Last days of development

From the only lab in the US of A that still develops Kodachrome:

Dwayne’s says it will develop remaining Kodachrome rolls if they are received by Dec. 30, 2010. After that, forget it. Kodachrome developing is a complex proprietary process involving special chemicals and added dyes. It’s not something that can be easily duplicated in a home darkroom, and photographers who have tried to improvise their own version say that it produces a degraded (or worse, blank) image.

Get some. Be the last to develop this beautiful, impossible to process, overpriced film.

Kim, Upstate, New York

I’m not sure what city we were in. I’ve been to that cabin 10 times and I still don’t know what city it was in. It was one of the best nights of my life. I was heartbroken and blissful, knowing this was it. This was the last night we see the boos, those wonderful ladies on their own turf. The last fire was the loudest. The last naked dip in the pond the coldest, longest, the furthest from the shore. It was the last time to rehearse past times about this place. This was it. The last photo. And it was perfect.
